Movements in Time - Artworks from the National Gallery

Foundation for the Arts and Social Enterprise proudly presents the world premiere of “Movements in Time - Artworks from the National Gallery” by Cultural Medallion Recipient Kelly Tang. Move through an exhibition of the National Gallery Singapore like never before with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, and trace the emotive contours of artworks by iconic Singapore artists Chua Mia Tee, Simryn Gill, Eng Tow, Han Sai Por and Tzee (Sarkasi Said) in this musical interpretation.  Galleries have long been a source of inspiration for classical music composers and The Foundation brings to life an ambitious project that has been years in the making. “Movements in Time - Artworks from the National Gallery”, conducted by maestro Chan Tze Law, sets to launch a decade of future works as part of the Music Commissioning Series, originally inspired by the iconic UTOPIA Symphony, recorded at renowned Abbey Road Studios by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The Series aims to create similar opportunities for Singapore composers to be heard around the world.  New to classical music? Not to worry. Audience members will have access to a free, student-friendly music-appreciation resource specially written by internationally recognised Singaporean composer, conductor and educator Benjamin Yeo. The concert will feature a solo guest performance by the prodigy pianist Mikkel Myer Lee. There will also be a screening of a mini documentary about the UTOPIA Symphony.
